Therapy for Anxiety
What does anxiety look like?
Whether mild or severe, chronic or acute, anxiety is a difficult condition to manage. If you are unsure whether or not you have anxiety, here are few ways it shows up:
- you seem unable to stop worrying
- you feel a sense of dread when you think of the future
- your energy is high and you constantly feel like you are missing something
- you cannot relax
If you deal with anxiety, you might read that list and think of a million reasons those statements aren't exactly true for you while you are worried, feeling dread, hyperaware, and unable to relax! One of the many difficult things about anxiety is it exists outside the realm of reason and no matter how many times you give yourself an opportunity to follow a reasonable path when dealing with anxiety, it will remain totally intact and unfazed.
How I Can Help
Because anxiety is disconnected from reason, IFS and quantum therapy are effective interventions. Both bring on a semi-meditative state of calm; that in itself is highly therapeutic. Through IFS or quantum therapy we will give compassionate attention to the parts who seem incapable of relaxing. In addition, I will lead you in various somatic breathing exercises and share coping skills to alleviate the physical effects.
You will feel a growing sense of empowerment over your anxious symptoms. It will not be so easy to feel overwhelmed by anxiety. When symptoms do show up in your life—because they just do for all of us—you will:
- have a better understanding of what is happening in your body and mind
- have more self-compassion
- better be able to access the skills that serve you best
